The Northern Circuit is Olee's flagship Kilimanjaro experience — a sweeping route that traces nearly the entire circumference of the mountain, taking climbers through landscapes and vantage points that shorter routes never reach.
Beginning on the western slopes through thick rainforest, the trail crosses the Shira Plateau and then curves northward, away from the crowds, into quieter and more remote terrain. This extended path gives the body exceptional time to adapt to altitude, resulting in one of the highest summit success rates of any route on the mountain.
For those seeking both the best odds of reaching Uhuru Peak and the most complete experience Kilimanjaro has to offer, the Northern Circuit stands apart.

Expert Recommendation
7-Day Option — From $2,600/person
Who should choose the 7-day route?
Best suited for experienced high-altitude trekkers with prior acclimatisation. If you have trekked above 4,000m before and maintain excellent fitness, the 7-day option is achievable — though we always recommend more time for safety.
8-Day Option — From $3,000/person
Who should choose the 8-day route?
Our most recommended option. The additional days significantly improve your acclimatisation profile, resulting in higher summit success and a far more enjoyable experience. Ideal for first-time Kilimanjaro climbers and those prioritising success.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How does the Northern Circuit differ from other routes?
Rather than heading directly toward the summit from the south, the Northern Circuit loops around the northern side of the mountain before the final ascent from the east. This adds an extra day or two, covers far more terrain, and provides the best acclimatisation of any Kilimanjaro route — resulting in a noticeably higher summit success rate.
Q: Is the Northern Circuit worth the additional cost and time?
For most climbers, yes. You get more remote trails, fewer fellow trekkers, richer scenery across all sides of the mountain, and a significantly improved chance of reaching Uhuru Peak. If summit success and a full Kilimanjaro experience matter to you, this route delivers both.
